The 5 Best Dual-Purpose Lunch Bags for Moms, A Review

As a mom, I’m obsessed with all things lightweight and portable that are ergonomically designed and easy to store. Everyday, it feels like my two bedroom NYC apartment is slowly turning into one gigantic toy box/kid accessories warehouse. Between the three of us, we have 1.5 closets. Storage is a precious commodity.

When I started to transport food and milk for my daughter, I was obsessed with finding something that folded flat for easy storage in my kitchen. I also wanted something sustainable that I could use over and over that would keep her food and milk cold long enough to make it to Grandma and Grandpa’s house or the park. I also wanted the bag to be cute, and something that I could use for work if need be. I’m all about products that have multiple uses, as this is not only economical, but also sustainable. Nothing bothers me more than buying something I know mu daughter will use for 6 months and then I’ll have to figure out what to do with.

I gathered up my friends and we put together a review of the following bags we’ve personally used along with their price points. Our focuses were towards sustainability and usefulness for adults and kids as well as storability, style and cost as outlined below:

  • Portability – How easily can I cram this into my diaper bag/stroller/gigantic mom bag?
  • Storability – Will this take up tons of space in my cupboard or does it easily fold down?
  • Cuteness – Is this stylish/cool/do I feel like a put together mom with it hanging off my stroller?
  • Dual Purpose – Can I easily reuse this as an adult and take it into the office without looking like a giant lady toddler?
  • Cost – How much does this cost? As a rule of thumb, we didn’t include any bags over $30.
  • Overall Quality – Did the zipper break off a month after use? Did the freezer packs burst all over my kids food?
